If we had to define ourselves we would say that Storms River is a transitional programme, a combination of primary, secondary and tertiary therepeutic care.

The primary purpose of Storms River is to assist and guide patients in the early stages of recovery addictive behaviours in order to map out a path for sustained recovery and growth. The aim is to take patients one step beyond rehabilitation, to equip them with a solid foundation from which to restore a functional, rewarding and a balanced lifestyle.

Storms River aims to give an holistic approach to recovery, to challenge and inspire patients to awaken within themselves a desire and commitment to change. Thus to search deeper for solutions to the addictive condition and related attitudes.

Living sober and sustained recovery comes as a result of many aspects in our lives and at Storms River we explore the ways in which to optimise a return to health and well-being; bringing balance back to mind, body and spirit.

The focus of our programme is personal growth and development through a sensitive character building programme.

An individual assessment will be conducted for each patient prior to admission by an experienced Addictions Counsellor to assess the motives of the individual and to ensure that an effective treatment plan is devised..

Addictions Expertise

Our addictions expertise include relapse prevention, cognitive behavioural techniques, goal setting, achieving objectives, boundaries, stress & anger, building self-esteem, co-dependency and relationships, triggers, own values clarification, spiritual awareness on a non-denominational basis, nature focused activities, inter-action and appreciation of the environment, creative skills – arts and crafts workshops, relaxation techniques, guidelines for healthy lifestyles and eating habits, attendance at external meetings, daily reflections and meditations, and involvement in community projects

The programme allows flexibility according to individual needs and patients can join the rotational programme at any stage. Residents will be at different stages of recovery at any given time and can benefit and help one another by sharing their experience, strength and hope.

Whilst encompassing recognised 12 Step approaches to recovery AND the fellowships of Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous we address issues via workshops, group discussions, community meetings, lectures and assignments

Facilities

Addiction Recovery Centre houses a maximum of 16 guests and facilities include games room/recreation area, beautiful gardens, pool table, hiking, TV room, smoking room, yoga/relaxation classes, excursions and adventure tours.
