This Durban-based Recovery Centre situated in
11 acres on the beautiful Indian Ocean coast of
South Africa, has developed over the past five
years into one of the leading treatment
providers in the country.
Reviews by the South African Department of Social Development describe its programme as ‘outstanding’.
Full medically supported detoxification and on-going primary and secondary care treatment is provided.
The centre maintains a minimum ratio of 1 to 6 counselling staff to patients with all other necessary professional support provided by doctors, nurses, psychologists and social workers. As with all our coastal centres, it is ideally situated to provide access to a range of outdoor activities which often form an important component of the treatment programme.
The rehab centre is strategically positioned to
ensure the therapeutic and outdoor environment needed
during the rehabilitation process. Whilst being accessible,
it is also far from the cities, providing a safe environment,
which greatly removes temptation in the early stages
of recovery.
Another facet of our programme is addressing physical recovery. Attention is given to the nutritional and fitness needs necessary to rebuild a healthy body and mind.
The objective in developing the Centre was to provide effective treatment protocols, which work. The motivation is to provide an affordable programme, managed by a team of professionals whose motivation, dedication and absolute commitment is the successful recovery of residents committed to their care.
From an initial staff of three, Addiction Recovery Centre now employs a staff of 31 care-givers, all with extensive expertise and experience in their respective fields.
South Coast Recovery Centre incorporates several
programme formats within the structuring of a
personalised programme.
It is imperative that individuals entering treatment are given as much training as possible, in order to equip them to meet the challenges of society and, for them to effectively sustain management of themselves.
Conventional short term recovery methods have proven unsuccessful. It is only by structuring individual programmes, using tried and tested methodology that sustainable recovery can be achieved.
Our courses are reinforced by training, covering topics such as relapse prevention, crisis management, coping skills, belief systems, rResentment, dealing with anger, culture of recovery vs. culture of addiction, management craving cycles, time management, decision making, depression, gratitude, financial consequences, controls and planning, Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats (S.W.O.T.) analysis, mind mapping, manipulation, problem solving, self awareness and life plans.
Addiction Recovery Centre houses a maximum of 16 guests and facilities set in eleven acres include pool, the Indian Ocean, gardens, workshop, gym, soccer, volleyball, paintball arena, table tennis and obstacle course.
